Meet Dr. Steven Ko
Dr. Steven Ko (also known as “Dr. Steve” by his patients) is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist and the founder of Brush and Play Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Steve is passionate about caring for children’s oral health. Specializing in treating infants and children, and patients with special health care needs, he finds it rewarding to impact patients’ lives early and watch them grow into adults who take an active role in their health. He strives for high-quality, safe dentistry, aiming to give both patients and their families the best experience possible.
Dr. Steve received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Columbia University and earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Steve has always had a passion for working with children of all age groups, volunteering in various organizations and giving swim lessons ever since he was in high school. He decided pediatric dentistry was his life’s mission and went on to complete additional years of pediatric dental training in New York at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
Outside of treating patients at Brush and Play Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Steve teaches pediatric resident doctors and dentral students as a professor at UC San Francisco, School of Dentistry.
On a personal level, Dr. Steve enjoys 🏊♂️ swimming in the early morning with the Stanford University Masters Swimming Team. He was a high school All-American in swimming and qualified for the U.S. Swimming National Championships 🏅 in multiple events. As a student athlete, he competed in NCAA Division I for Columbia for all four years and captained in his senior year 🤴. In his free time, he enjoys adventuring with his wife, playing basketball 🏀 , and watching Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and 76ers 🏈.
