Meet Dr. Esther Chung
Dr. Esther (Kyung Ah) Chung is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist dedicated to creating positive, stress-free dental experiences for children. Inspired by her parents, physician and pharmacist, Dr. Chung knew from a young age that she wanted to help others. Wanting to make her own unique impact, she chose dentistry and pursued an accelerated 7-year combined program at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, where she earned both her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). She then completed specialized training in pediatric dentistry at John Oishei Children’s Hospital in New York (formerly known as the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo). Her residency focused on treating children with special health care needs and medically complex conditions, further honing her skills in compassionate, patient-centered care. Dr. Chung continues to share her expertise by teaching dental students as a professor at the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Chung enjoys figure skating, having competed in regional leagues in South Korea, and now skates recreationally as an adult. She is also a talented pianist and loves exploring new coffee shops and restaurants with her husband. Having grown up in Australia, Singapore, Korea and China, she developed an appreciation for diverse cultures and languages. Fluent in English, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese, Dr. Chung easily connects with families from various backgrounds and is proud to call the Bay Area her home.
